Schweitzer's work shows a concern for how space is controlled with divisional forms and color, which are also used as secondary tools for manipulating positive and negative space, balance and overall efficiency.  

Schweitzer considers himself an abstract gestural painter influenced by abstract expressionism and color-field styles. His work shows varying degrees of abstract figurative and non-objective styles.
